Hold after unusual selling activity or a sudden rise in orders

eBay emails the seller and holds funds of future orders not yet delivered; business sellers typically 2 days after delivery confirmation or 31 days after the buyer pays. No end date for the hold itself.

High-priced item hold

For certain high-priced items funds are typically held for 31 days after the transaction date.

Payout shows 'Blocked' / payout hold

eBay gives no number of days. Named reasons: registration discrepancy, compliance, performance, invalid payment method for fees, Form W-9 that cannot be validated.

Account restricted or suspended with payouts on hold

Good to know before a hold happens
  • Use tracked shipping, ideally eBay labels; shipping without tracking generally means a longer wait.
  • Upload tracking within your handling time once the buyer's payment is confirmed.
  • Keep a valid payment method on file for fees and a valid W-9 (US) to avoid payout holds.
  • Respond within 5 calendar days to payment disputes.
