Which situation is yours?

New seller: funds not yet eligible for deposit

14 days · the date of the sale

Generally 14 days after a sale for new sellers, longer depending on the shop's standing. Established shops may get funds the next business day.

Deposits on hold after you changed your bank account

5 days · the day Etsy verifies the new bank details

Funds can be deposited into the new bank account from 5 days after Etsy verifies the new bank details. Non-US accounts must be verified first.

Payment account reserve (part of each physical-item sale held)

No fixed term published

Etsy shows the reserve holding time and percentage in your Payment account; both vary by account. Funds release when valid tracking shows the order in transit, or after the default holding period. The Etsy Payments Policy describes a variable reserve of up to 180 days (delayed) or up to 90 days (deducted).

Hold or deposit delay on your balance (disputes, chargebacks, investigation)

180 days · the estimated delivery date

A hold on deposits can last the shorter of 180 days after the estimated delivery date or the end of the investigation. A deposit delay between 0 and 180 days applies across all transactions.

“for the shorter of: (a) 180 days after the estimated delivery date, or (b) completion of any investigation regarding the seller’s actions” Source: www.etsy.com/legal/etsy-payments (read 2026-10-17)

Buyer chargeback: information requested by Etsy

5 days · the date of Etsy's request

Five calendar days from the request to give Etsy the information it needs to respond to the card network. Etsy may recoup the funds from the seller.

Suspension because of an overdue bill

Seller information must be confirmed (legal deadline; funds and shop paused)

90 days · the deadline shown in Shop Manager

If you miss the deadline you cannot receive funds from sales and the shop may be paused in vacation mode; after 90 days past the deadline the shop is closed. Etsy cannot grant extensions.

Not confirmed

We could not confirm these on the platform's own pages, so we do not state them as fact.

  • Contents behind login: Payment settings, the 'Order in reserve' screens, Shop Manager chat, the Contact Etsy Support form and the Appeals Center form.
  • The exact reserve percentage and period for any account (shown in the Payment account only). The policy's 30% / 45-day example is an illustration, not a standard.
  • What happens to money in the Payment account after a permanent suspension or shop closure: no page read states a period or procedure.
  • A direct postal address for complaints: the Terms read give only email addresses and a service address for arbitration demands.
  • Any regulator or ombudsman for Etsy Payments: none named on the pages read for US sellers; regulators list left empty. EU/DSA out-of-court bodies are mentioned in the Terms but not named.
  • The EU P2B complaint link ('here' in the Terms) was not captured as a URL.
  • Etsy social-media support: no official page read lists one.
  • Etsy Payments Policy last updated Jul 31, 2026 and Terms of Use Sep 30, 2026 per the pages; Etsy Ireland (EPIL) terms for EEA sellers were not read.
  • Phone: Etsy states it has no phone number; call-backs can only be requested through the form.
Good to know before a hold happens
  • Ship on time, do not mark items shipped before handing them to the carrier, respond to buyers within 24 hours if you can and keep good reviews: Etsy lists these as ways to avoid a reserve.
  • Etsy says a Star Seller will not get a reserve placed on the shop.
  • Add valid tracking to every physical order so reserved funds release earlier.
  • Keep bank, card on file, taxpayer ID and seller info current; these are listed suspension and missing-deposit causes.
  • Pay Etsy bills on time: an overdue bill suspends the shop.
  • If you change the bank account expect a further 5-day hold after verification.
  • Watch the sudden-increase signals Etsy names for reserves: a sharp rise in orders or refunds, missing tracking, late shipping, a first sale.
