Not confirmed

We could not confirm these on the platform's own pages, so we do not state them as fact.

  • Contents behind login: payment details screens, the in-app chat, and any contact form in the Help Center.
  • Whether a written contact form or email address for human agents exists: the Help Center page read lists only topics and articles.
  • The start date of the 21-day period for automatic seller holds: the page says 'within 21 days' without naming the starting point.
  • A published maximum period for a frozen or suspended account: none stated.
  • What happens to money after Venmo closes an account for risk reasons: only the dormant/unclaimed procedure and the 180-day hold are stated.
  • US-CFPB: no Venmo page read names the CFPB, so it is not listed as confirmed. The only complaint body named in the user agreement is the California DFPI.
  • Social-media support: no official page read lists one.
  • Tax-hold thresholds: the Venmo page quotes the 2025 federal threshold ($20,000 and 200 transactions); the current-year threshold was not confirmed.
  • Venmo is a service of PayPal, Inc.; the PayPal user agreement and Venmo user agreement share the same Notice of Dispute and Error Resolution addresses. Terms in this package are US only.
Good to know before a hold happens
  • Expect holds on new seller accounts, unusual payments, long-inactive accounts, products that can cause dissatisfaction and many refund requests; Venmo says it cannot stop these automatic holds.
  • Add your tax ID (EIN, SSN or ITIN) in the app before you reach the reporting threshold for goods-and-services payments.
  • Keep your phone number, email address and other contact information current in your Venmo profile.
  • Log in regularly: accounts with no login or activity for 3 years are generally presumed abandoned.
  • Keep tracking, proof of delivery and buyer conversations for every sale so a dispute can be answered quickly.
